Roles & Responsibilities
- At all times follow Client’s operating instructions applicable to the designated crane and platform.
- Actively participate in Company’s and Client’s safety programs and initiatives.
- Participation and compliance with the Permit to Work system.
- Participate in pre-tour and pre-job safety meetings in compliance with the Company requirements.
- Report all hazards and positively intervene in all observed unsafe acts.
- Attend General Safety Meetings and participate in emergency drills, including post-drill debriefs.
- Carry out all work activities within the guidelines of Company or Operator Policies or Procedures.
- Familiarise with Company’s Safety Policy and to take all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety as required under Company’s Safety Management System.
- Carry out the Daily / Pre-use Crane Checks and maintenance operation of the cranes, recording reports in the log book provided and reporting of all defects noted.
- Prior to using the crane for personnel transfer and in addition to the above, carry out the pre-transfer crane checks as detailed in the JSA.
- Operating the cranes, daily maintenance and ensure good housekeeping at all the time.
- Always ensure safe operations of the cranes and consults with Maintenance Supervisor or OIM if in doubt.
- Ensure clear communications are maintained between the Banksman and Crane Operator at all times.
- Provide familiarisation training for any new incoming crane operators to the platform/site and complete familiarisation record.
Requirements
- Valid Crane Operator Certificate (Minimum API RP 2D 7th Edition Level 3)
- WAH training; LPS training; Firefighting training; Rigging and slinging training and wire rope inspection.
- Good level of verbal and written communication in English.
- Maintain BMI levels as per Company & Client requirements.
- Incumbent is expected to be mobile to cover similar roles.
- Meet the training requirements as per Company’s training matrix.
- Experience of 3 years as offshore Crane Operator, 6 years in the offshore oil and gas industry on platforms or mobile units.
